SWIM & DIVE

SWIM LESSONS

  • Kendbrin offers free swim lessons for members.

  • Swim lessons are divided into levels:

    • Kicking on front and back with full assistance.

    • Float on back and work on getting chin up to the sky/getting head wet.

    • Dunking head underwater.

    • Spiderman crawls on wall back and forth.

    • Holding onto the wall (with no assistance depending on age/ability).

    • Blowing bubbles.

    • Jumping in water.

    • Enter and exit water independently, using wall or ladder.

    • Blowing bubbles through the mouth and nose.

    • Bobbing up and down with assistance or independently.

    • “Ice cream scoops” with assistance.

    • Kicking with the kick boards (if confident, try and let go but stay close by).

    • Back floats with assistance or by self.

    • Games, such as red light green light.

    • Jumping in on own and starting to doggy paddle towards instructor.

    • Kicking on kickboard with little to no assistance in deep end.

    • Kicking on back with no assistance while hugging kickboard.

    • Jumping in water and coming to the surface.

    • Beginning to learn backstroke/freestyle.

    • Treading water on own.

    • Diving to bottom to retrieve object and coming back up.

    • Learning head first entries (dives).

    • Two minute treading water.

    • Swimming a full lap of freestyle and backstroke (Level 4).

    • Starting to learn breaststroke and butterfly (Level 5).

    • Refining the technique of all strokes (Level 5).

SWIM TEAM

  • Swim Team is a great way to introduce new swimmers to competitive swimming with a relaxed, low-key approach. Emphasis is put on teaching the fundamentals of each stroke and increasing the endurance of younger swimmers. Our philosophy is that every swimmer will swim regardless of ability.

  • The Kendbrin Swim Team participates in the Narragansett Swim League

  • Swim Teams are grouped by age: 8 & under, 9/10, 11/12 and 13 - 16 years old.

  • Swim Team practices are held weekday mornings.

  • There are typically 5-6 weekday meets, and an All Pool & Dive Meet.

  • The fee for Swim Team is not included in the membership dues.

  • Swim Team is open to Kendbrin Club Members only

DIVE TEAM

  • The Dive Team introduces competitive diving to anyone who is willing to try.

  • The Kendbrin Dive Team participates in the Narragansett Swim League with competitions immediately following each swim meet.

  • Dive Teams are grouped by age: 8 & under, 9/10, 11/12 and 13 - 16 years old.

  • Dive Team practices are held weekday afternoons.

  • There are typically 5-6 weekday meets, and an All Pool & Dive Meet.

  • The fee for Dive Team is not included in the membership dues.

  • Dive Team is open to Kendbrin Club Members only

During the summer, Kendbrin staff members located at the welcome table, as well as the lifeguards, will be able to answer questions regarding the swim and dive programs.
